MONSTERS
OF METAL: THE LAST EXHIBIT AT LUCKYSTAR STUDIO®
That's
right kids The
Monsters of Metal, August 22, 6-10pm, will be our last exhibit.
We've decided to close the gallery and concentrate on our artistic
endeavors; and we're
doing it in style: LIVE
performance by Metal guitarist Steve
Schraenkler; the insanely
popular sculptures of Mark Winter, Punk rock
artists / designers Adam T. and Melissa
|
Turkel make a rare
gallery
appearance for this
event; and
Milwaukee based artist Dwellephant makes
his Luckystar debut. Us? We'll be
debuting Luckystar Studio's Zombie
Lust; a collection of new work
chuck full of sex, violence and the living dead.
Monsters of Metal
is sponsored
by 88Nine Radio Milwaukee and Pabst. |

THE
DEVIL AND MRS. FROG DEBUTS AT MILWAUKEE ART MUSEUM
In tribute to Gilbert and George; our friends at Cedar Block are
producing an exhibit for
the Milwaukee Art Museum
Friday, August 15, 8pm-midnight. The task: Artists are sent
jokes and are asked produce new work for the exhibit.
|
After reading our joke: Why did Dracula
shoot the Mummy? Because he was a
"Blood" and the
Mummy
was a "Crypt"; we sighed. Than the flow of ideas went
something like this: Bloods and
Crips (L.A. gangs)
their colors
(red and blue; respectively), gang signs, bandannas, mask, and an
obscure episode of Hawaii
5-O... and there you have it: the Devil and Mrs. Frog was born.
See
the The Devil and Mrs. Frog NOW!!! |

HELLO
- WE MUST BE GOING
A few changes and a lot of information - please read
through carefully. After our next
exhibit:The Monsters of
Metal, August 22, 6-10pm, we will no longer exhibit guest
artist at Luckystar Studio. This doesn't mean we're closing. On the
contrary
we are
working more than ever on several projects including commissions
and a traveling
exhibit that will take us around the country.
|
We are no longer accepting artists submissions; reviewing portfolios or
taking applications for
interns.
We've also
decided to move the studio to a great little spot on Historic
Mitchell Street. We will be
hosting a Moving Sale
at our current location; 5407 Vliet Street; September 19
& 20,
before we
vacate the storefront at the end of September.
Hope you
can make it to The
Monsters of Metal, here, at Luckystar Studio®, and
we look forward
to seeing you at several upcoming events outside these four walls;
including the debut our new series
Fairies
Wear Boots, at Design
Within Reach Gallery Night, July 25 & 26; Flesh. Metal. Ink.
an
exhibit we curated for the Walker's Point Center for the Arts, August
1; and "What do you get
when you cross..." at the Milwaukee Art Museum, August 15.
